A donation to the AAFP Foundation at the time of membership renewal is the easiest and fastest way to support your Foundation as well as Chapter programs! It's as easy as checking "yes" on your dues statement or donating online. Membership renewal donations are the largest single source of contributions to the Foundation each year. Your participation matters!
Donating professional speaking, writing, or per diem honoraria is a creative way to support the AAFP Foundation's many activities and programs. Whether through personal generosity or encouraged by your company, honoraria gifts significantly impact a charity.
Many Academy members enhance their annual giving and avoid unwanted taxable income by sending their honoraria directly to the AAFP Foundation. To ensure the future of programs you care about, send your honoraria to the AAFP Foundation at the address listed at the top of the page.
Make your donation to the AAFP Foundation go even further! Many employers will match your charitable gift to the Foundation. Some companies will even match gifts made by spouses, board members, or retirees. To find out if your employer will match a gift you’ve made to the Foundation, contact your company’s human resources department.
The AAFP Foundation hosts several exciting fundraising events during the Family Medicine Experience (FMX, formerly Assembly). All event proceeds benefit the AAFP Foundation educational programs, scientific research, and humanitarian initiatives.
The Foundation offers the following select items for purchase:
A gift to the AAFP Foundation’s endowment is a long-term philanthropic investment in the future of family medicine. Gifts to endowment are held and invested, as the corpus of a particular fund, and never expended. A portion of the investment return generated from the endowed fund is used to support the designated purpose of the fund. Through generous gifts from donors and prudent investment management focused on long-term growth, the endowment ensures an ongoing stream of revenue for the Foundation. Endowment growth provides, not only long-term stability for our existing programs, but also the means for steady, sustainable growth and intergenerational equity in the Foundation’s capacity to impact family medicine and the populations served by the specialty.
With a gift or pledge of $25,000 or more, payable over a maximum of 5 years, a donor can establish an endowed fund to support an existing program of the AAFP Foundation (or for the Foundation’s unrestricted use). An endowed fund can be named after the donor or to honor a mentor or loved one, creating a philanthropic legacy to extend beyond the donor or honoree’s lifetime. Additional gifts (from the original donor or others) will grow the endowed fund corpus and thus its impact on the fund designation. Gifts of cash, direct transfers of securities, qualified charitable distributions from an IRA, or planned gifts (bequests, charitable beneficiary designations, etc.) are all appropriate funding sources.
Gifts in any amount, via any acceptable source, can be directed to the AAFP Foundation General Endowment Fund. The General Endowment provides annual distributions to support the Foundation’s core programs and operations.

The AAFP Foundation recognizes the remarkable commitment you make when deciding to provide support beyond your lifetime. Leaving a planned gift is a meaningful way to express the value you see in the work an organization does and realize significant financial, tax, and estate planning benefits. Choose from different types of planned gifts as you help create the future of family medicine.
