• Since 2006 the AAFP Foundation, through a collaborative program with 55 AAFP Constituent Chapters and Foundations, has provided $1,352,920 to support 417 projects from 41 states, the District of Columbia, and the Family Medicine Midwest Collaborative. The collaboration has helped fund grassroots programming in member outreach, public health, and student and resident projects. All with the goal of advancing family medicine.

To be reflective of the strong support and local impact, this work – and collaborative effort – has a new name: Family Medicine Chapter Alliance (FMCA). Replacing what was known as the Family Medicine Philanthropic Consortium, the FMCA will build on the foundation of the last two decades with Chapter Grants, Chapter Engagements Grants, and Student Externship Matching Grants.

“The Foundation is proud of its collaboration with AAFP chapters and foundations in creating meaningful impact locally,” says Andrea Gavin, MD, FMCA Work Group Convener. “With up to $80,000 going back to chapters each year to support grassroots programming, the future of family medicine is made stronger.”
